Yellowfin “consistently top-ranked” for Innovation, Collaborative BI and ease-of-use: BARC’s The BI Survey 16
Yellowfin’s Business Intelligence solution has ranked first – in its assigned Peer Groups – for ‘Innovation’ five years in a row, ‘Collaboration’ four years in a row, and first for ‘ease-of-use’ for the third year running in BARC’s The BI Survey
Global Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics software vendor, Yellowfin, has ranked first for ‘Innovation’ for the fifth year in a row – within its ‘Self-service reporting-focused products’ and ‘Americas-focused vendors’ Peer Groups – in the Business Applications Research Center’s (BARC)’s The BI Survey 16, the world’s largest annual survey of BI end-users.
Yellowfin was also the top-ranked vendor for ‘Collaboration’ – within the Self-service reporting-focused products and Americas-focused vendors Peer Groups – in The BI Survey 16. Yellowfin has been top-ranked in Collaboration, within the Americas-focused vendors Peer Group, for the past four iterations of The BI Survey (since 2013). Additionally, Yellowfin ranked first for the ‘ease-of-use’ KPI, within the Self-service reporting-focused products Peer Group, for the third year in a row.

“Yellowfin has dominated the Innovation category of BARC’s The BI Survey for the past five years, emerging as the top ranked BI solution for its vendor Peer Groups again in 2016,” said Yellowfin Co-Founder and CEO, Glen Rabie. “Combined with Yellowfin’s renowned ease-of-use, our approach to empowering business users with unique collaborative capabilities supports high levels of user adoption. The BI Survey 16 found the average proportion of employees using Yellowfin within an organization was 33 percent, compared to an average of 17 percent for all products assessed.”
Identified as a BI platform that has “consistently top-ranked in Innovation”, Yellowfin has ranked first in The BI Survey for the complex ‘Innovation’ KPI – within the Self-service reporting-focused products Peer Group and Americas-focused vendors Peer Groups – every year since 2012. Yellowfin also ranked first for the Innovation KPI within the ‘Dashboarding-focused products’ Peer Group from 2012 to 2015, placing second in 2016.

The ‘Innovation’ KPI comprises ratings for seven pioneering product capabilities in order to measure a product’s level of innovation, including cloud BI, Collaborative BI, Data Discovery and data visualization, Mobile BI, operational BI, Location Intelligence and visual design standards.
BARC noted that Yellowfin had also recorded “consistently outstanding” results for its product capabilities in Collaborative BI, which contributed strongly to its dominant Innovation KPI scores and user adoption statistics.
“Collaboration is Yellowfin’s truly unique selling point,” said Dr Bange. “Many other BI vendors provide collaboration and workflow capabilities, but Yellowfin beats them on several counts. Its capabilities are broader than most of its competitors and the ease-of-use and intuitiveness with which business users can set-up workflows and collaborate on content is very impressive.
“This level of ease-of-use helps to increase user adoption, with results from The BI Survey finding that the percentage of employees using Yellowfin within an organization is twice the average of other products.”
Yellowfin ranked first for four KPIs – and was identified as a leader (ranked within the top 25 percent of products assessed) for an additional four KPIs – within the Self-service reporting-focused products Peer Group. Yellowfin was also a top ranked BI solution in four KPIs – and was pinpointed as a leading BI product in a further three KPIs – within the Americas-focused vendors Peer Group. Additionally, Yellowfin was recognized as a leader in 11 KPIs within the Dashboarding-focused products Peer Group.
