Install Repository Database to named instance of MS SQL Server

Hi,

Yellowfin can connect to a named instance of MS SQL Server as source database.

Is there a reason why Yellowfin's repository database cannot be installed on a named instance of MS SQL Server?

Regards,

Nick
Hi Nick,

We do actually support installing into a Named Instance, though we do not have a 'check box' to simply enter the named instance name.

When installing Yellowfin into a named instance, you will need to find the listening port that the named instance is using.
The server host will be aisqldev , but the database server port will be the port specifically allocated to the named instance.

For some help in finding the named instance listening post, please see the following posts:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823938
http://www.sql-server-performance.com/forum/threads/configure-sql-server-named-instance-to-use-default-port-1433.27153/

We have raised an enhancement request (TASK ID = 110896 ) so that you can easily choose a named instance when installing, though this has not been implemented as yet, and hoping to get it implemented in the next few releases.

For the moment , when installing into a named instance, you will need to find the specific port the instance is using and then the relevant host name.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

David
