Drill through on chart using time series not working

Hi. I'm running Yellowfin Version 7 build 20140528 and experiencing a problem with drill-through on a chart for a cross-tab report. I can drill-through from the table in the report however.

My data setup looks like this.

And my related reports drill-through setup is this.

The Shift Date and Shift Master fields are set to select field (as I believe is necessary for a cross-tab report) and responsibility group and outage are set to the select filter. By the way it would be good to add something to the name of the master field selections to differentiate between the field and the filter. It would allow support staff and users to be able to easily spot a problem.

Anyway, it looks like the image map doesn't contain the hyperlinks.

Where as the table hyperlinks work fine.

I've tried column and line charts and they both don't work.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or is this a bug? There are no errors generated in the tomcat console.
Sorry I didn't realise I was timed out and I didn't add my name.

Regards,
Michael
Ok, I definitely wasn't doing anything wrong and it is a bug. I've narrowed down on what the issue is. If I turn time series off it works fine. The issue doesn't just occur on line charts either. Please fix this ASAP.

Michael
Hi Michael,

Sorry for the bad news, but time-series charts do not support drill-throughs.
This is because the chart aggregates data, so it does not necessarily match the report in the tables. E.g. Your table is showing actual dates, while the chart is aggregated and showing years, so the drilling in no longer valid.
I hope this makes sense.

An enhancement request was previously created for this (TASK ID = 126815) though it has not been implemented.

Very sorry for the bad news, and I know this was discussed a while ago, but just could not think of a way to implement this.

Regards,
David

Hi David,

Argh! Ok, that makes sense and I can see how that would cause issues if the data was aggregated, however in my case due to a small range of data all dates are displayed and the data isn't rolled up into months or years so there should be no problems with that.

Could you make it pass the from and to date of the selected chart area instead of just the date? The drill-through report would obviously have to be able to take both parameters and if a single day was clicked you could use the from date of the start of the day and the to date as the end of the day.

Michael
Hi Michael,

I'm sure there is a good way to handle this, but it's just something that is not currently on the cards. So cannot give an ETA as to when this will change.

Sorry for the bad news.

David

Ok, thanks David. Can you change the thread title to "Drill through on chart using time series not working" for the benefit of others? I'm happy for you to also accept the answer with the task id in.
