Is there a way to send a “formatted” message in a broadcast?

I'm sending out broadcasts to my user groups, but I'd like to format the message with html or rich text. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,
Hi Howie,

Unfortunately email text in pre 6.3 versions was extremely limited.
You are essentially using plain text, and everything is taken from the broadcast setup.

However in 6.3, we have included an 'Email Template' option that allows you to create your own email template that is used. This can include signatures, images etc..

At this point the wiki for 6.3 is not complete, though should be up in a few weeks. Once it's up I will update this post with a link, though for now you can see the screenshot below to help illustrate this feature:

Please let me know if you have any additional questions on this.

Hi David,

Regarding from this question, is there way to disable this email template future ?

Thanks,
Randy
Hi Randy,

This is not currently possible, but has been noted for future releases.
Is there a reason why you would like to disable this?

We believe having the ability to configure how the email content looks is an extremely useful feature and are interested to note what your thoughts are on this.

David
Thanks, David.
Hi David,

I am in the same org as Randy. Basically we had a lot of HTML reports broadcasting and after the upgrade and introduction of email templates our reports became unreadable due to formatting errors (graphs stretching outside borders etc). In order to get around this we have attempted to remove as much formatting as possible from the templates and they look passable. (still indented to right too much and the intro "Hello X Y" text cannot be removed)

While we love the idea of email templates implementing them as default-on does not really give us time to properly test. I hope to later migrate to using email templates but for now would like to keep the old system until we fix up our reports and decide on the formatting. I think this may effect other clients (as there is no notice of the formatting change - and visible to customers)

Thanks,

Ian
Hi Ian,

Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused, and be aware we are working through it. I believe we have also sent across some additional info via email.
I can understand wanting to stay with the old version until this is fixed, or until we add an option to disable email templates.

Also, it's a good idea to test major upgrades in a dev/test environment before migrating to Prod.
We do test in multiple scenarios, though because our clients create their own objects with so many different DB choices out there, it's hard to test for everything.

David

Hi,

I'd like to second Randy's comment about being able to turn off the template as default.

Would also like to be able to change the Salutation Text, and/or turn the Salutation Text off and still use the rest of the template.

Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris,

OK, your seconding of Randy's request has been noted.
Regarding the Salutation text, you are right - at the moment it is not possible to change the Hi text in the header, an enhancement request has been raised to make this text configurable (support task ID = 141328) as some point in the future.

regards,
Dave
Hi there,

Is it possible to hide/remove the salutation from the email template in v7.1?

Any news on removing or changing the 'Hi' text in the email?
I hoped version 7.2 has that possibility.
Hi Jurgen,

I hope all is well,

Unfortunately there has been no progress on the option of changing the default email template, specifically the option to remove or change the 'Hi' text.

With this I will push this forward to see if we can get any news on this as I see how this feature would help for certain customers.

I know this is probably not the best of news, but as you know we do currently have a Enhancement Request open for this.

Regards,
Mark
