Report does not fit on the A4 size page in PDF

After upgrading to patch 20130725, when I export my report to PDF, it does not fit on the A4 size page. I have to export to A3 page size in order to be able to see all columns on the report.

What should I do in order to get it back to fit on A4 size page, which was working fine before the latest upgrade?

Thanks.

Hi Shanika,

there is new functionality that allows the user to resize the column width when exporting to PDF - that should enable you to get it back on an A4 size page. And if that is not enough, then choosing a slightly smaller font size should also contribute to reducing the overall report size.

I hope that helps you with the A4 report, please let us know how it goes.

Dave
Hi,

There is also another way to shrink to fit, and this can be done in your PDF reader.

E.g.
Export your report to A3 from Yellowfin, then open your report in adobe reader and change the print 'Page Scaling' settings:

More information on this (from Adobe reader) can be found here :http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/scale-or-resize-printed-pages.html

Hi David

The method of resizing columns is really cumbersome, given that they need to be done indivudually.

Is there really no way to set a blank default "Print to page" option for all reports? I understand that some reports would be unreadable (if they had many columns) however I'd hate for clients to be having to resize each report in their print options.

Thanks
Andy
Hi Andy,

Unfortunately it's just the way it works.

We use PDF engines to create the PDF file, and the older one we used (which would squish the report into the page chosen) had many limitations.
You would never really get the same looking report in your PDF.

So we switched to a newer PDF engine which is a lot better, it just gets exactly what is in the browser and sends it to a PDF.
This does mean the user will need to either size their report in the browser that will fit on the selected page type, or use adobe functionality to shrink the report to a size of their choosing.

Sorry for the inconvenience, it's just the better of 2 evils ;).

David
