Concurrent Login error message
21 March, 2012
Hi,
When I try to log in as the yellowfin admin user I am getting an error telling me that I cannot have concurrent logins from multiple hosts. The issue is that the admin user is not already logged in.
I've verified through the use of another admin login that there are no admin@yellowfin.com.au sessions.
In the end, restarting the yellowfin service on the server seems to have cleared any login bind-up that may have been in place.
How can I prevent this from happening or diagnose why it is happening?
Thanks
Brendon

Hi Brendon,
This could be related to how the browser is storing the user sessions.
Did you actually log out of Yellowfin prior to this happening, or did you just shut-down the browser?
What browser are you using, does it happen if you login from another machine?
Also, you can try changing the muliple login logic to 'ask' .
Please let me know your findings.
Regards,
David

Hi David,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.
I've got this happening again on a client site - I was logged in yesterday as the admin@yellowfin.com.au and I suspect that I simply closed the bowser last night instead of logging the user out. Now I'me getting the old "Unable to login concurrent users from multiple hosts. " when I try to log in.
I'm using IE9.0.3 on the same machine I was using yesterday.
Thanks
Brendon

A restart of YF seems to have sorted the issue, but it is annoying to have had to restart the application.
Hi Brendon,
Apologies for the delayed response.
If you close the browser the user session will remain open until it times out, by default this is set to 20mins.
So this should not occur if it happened the next day.
If you do notice it happening again please let me know.
An idea would also be to change the logon options to 'Ask' when multiple sessions are detected.
This is set under Administration > Configuration > Authentication.

Thanks David,
I've changed the setting to 'Ask' and well see if this happens again.
I'm looking for the timeout setting - is that the 'remember me' setting?
Thanks

Hi Brendon,
The user session timeout setting can be configured by following the instructions in the following post.
Please let me know if this is not what you were after.

Hi David,
Thanks for the recommendation David, it really helps. Furthermore to your answer, are there are any risks with selecting 'Ask' when multiple sessions are detected?

Hi,
I'm having the same problem (concurrent user log in). The session timed out and I couldn't log out, so I just closed the browser.
It's been more than 24 hours since my last login and I'm getting this error. I've checked and none of the other users are logged on.
Thanks
Reece

Hey Reece,
Thank you for letting us know. Were you able to log in after re-starting the application? Also, what version and build of YF are you currently using?
Also, how are your options configured under multiple login logic?
Lastly, one way to avoid this in the future, if your session times out, is to log back in and then log out prior to closing
the browser.
Let us know and we will continue to look at this for you.
Thank you,
Kyle
