Hi Support,

Create a report with more than 65000 rows

Email it in Excel and it crashes

When will you be supporting XLSX

Several customers now have this problem

Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,

This will be raised on Mondays development meeting.

I will post a reply with details on if we will be able to support this in the near future.

Regards,
Steven
Hi Support,

Any news on this ?

Thanks - Grant
Hi Grant,

Currently this is unplanned and so I am unable to give a ETA on when this will be implemented.

We will be discussing all enhancement requests in April and this will be brought up, as soon as there is any confirmation on when it will be done I will let you know.

Regards,
Steven
Hi Support,

2 of my customers are now regularly on my back

When will support for .XLSX be implemented

Thanks - Grant
Hi Grant,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, though it still is marked as unplanned as it didn't make it into Yellowfin 6.1.

Can you export to CSV as a workaround ?

Regards,
David

Hi David,

Is this still unplanned as we have a some customers with this problem as well.

Regards,

Graeme
Hi Graeme,

Unfortunately this is still not planned for the next release.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,
David

Hello,
has this issue been scheduled for an upcoming release?
It's not only the support of > 64K rows, it's also the size of the file.
Thanks!
Hi Michal,

Yellowfin does not actually contain any file size limitations, it's whatever the application server can handle. Eg. Java needs to process the file, so you need to ensure that Java has enough grunt to process the file. Otherwise you will get an 'out of memory' error.

However, in terms of the row limit.
XLS files have a row limit of 65,536 rows. This is not controlled by Yellowfin.

The only way to increase the no. of rows in XLS format, is to use XLSX, which is not currently supported in Yellowfin. An enhancement request was raised for this (TASK ID = 108554)

The only alternative is to use a CSV file to export the data, as there are no row limitations with CSV files.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Regards,
David
I think it depends on what version of Excel your system is using to generate the excel file.
Here is a table that I found:

+-----------------+-----------+--------------+---------------------+
| | Max. Rows | Max. Columns | Max. Cols by letter |
+-----------------+-----------+--------------+---------------------+
| Excel 365* | 1,048,576 | 16,384 | XFD |
| Excel 2013 | 1,048,576 | 16,384 | XFD |
| Excel 2010 | 1,048,576 | 16,384 | XFD |
| Excel 2007 | 1,048,576 | 16,384 | XFD |
| Excel 2003 | 65,536 | 256 | IV |
| Excel 2002 (XP) | 65,536 | 256 | IV |
| Excel 2000 | 65,536 | 256 | IV |
| Excel 97 | 65,536 | 256 | IV |
| Excel 95 | 16,384 | 256 | IV |
| Excel 5 | 16,384 | 256 | IV |
+-----------------+-----------+--------------+---------------------+

Hi, Id like to know when Yellowfin will export to XLSX?
Hi Arthur,

There is still an open enhancement request (TASK ID = 108554) for exporting to XLSX. At this time, it is hard to say when this enhancement request will be implemented.

I've gone ahead and placed a note in the enhancement in order to show a history of interest.

Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Kind Regards,

Dustin

Got some great news!

Just letting you know that Yellowfin 7.2 will be supporting exporting to XLSX and will be released early 2016.
