Formula Builder Does Not Have Exponentiation

What is exponentiation?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponentiation

My objective is to calculate a present value of a growing annuity.

How is present value of a growing annuity calculated?

http://www.financeformulas.net/Present_Value_of_Growing_Annuity.html

Assume I want to do this in Yellowfin only. I would create this at the Yellowfin view level. At the report level, the end user will select the assumptions for this calculation (growth rate and discount rate and number of periods).

Hi Ian,

Apologies for the delay in responding to this post. We've been doing some forum cleanup lately and we noticed that this one slipped through the cracks. Our mistake!

Regarding exponentiation -- I've spoken to our dev's and currently Yellowfin does not possess an advanced function that performs what you are after. But you could manually create an custom analytical function to perform this arithmetic.

I've gone ahead and attached the applicable section from our admin guide outlining how to do this. It's a bit dated, but the information regarding custom analytical function is still applicable to 7.1.

Also, here is a forum post regarding this topic if you are interested:

Writing Advanced Functions

Hopefully this information is helpful and apologies again for the delay in responding to this query! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Dustin
