How Do You Order The DashBoard Sequence
21 October, 2010
Hi Support,
I have 6 users who belong to a group
View DashBoards Only
These users do not have the Option
Move Dash Left or Right
Be good if they did
But this allows them to do things they should not
These users are only allowed to view the DashBoard
Nothing else, no running reports etc
What order do the Dash's appear in
How do I change the order
For the group
Or for a user
An example of their Dash
Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,
Currently you can only set dashboards per groups.
Effectively you can create a group for each user, though this can be a lot of work.
I have created an enhancement request for this (TASK ID = 100063)
I have also created an enhancement request for the ability to change the order of the dashboard TABS (TASK ID = 100062).
The order you add tabs to a user group will be the order they are sorted on the dashboard (see the numbered list pictured below).
I hope this answers your questions.
Regards,
David

Hi Support,
Where are we at with all this ?
Have A New site
Various people have fiddled with the DashBoards
Have 30 DashBoards
Meeting today decided 5 users will belong to Group1
We decided exactly what order these DashBoards would show for Group1 users
So how do I setup these 5 users / Group1
All the DashBoards in the right order
Hopefully reasonably easily
Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,
If you have already assigned the dashboards to the group, when you add these users to that group, they should view the dashboards in the order you chose.
See screenshot above.
The only thing that could affect this, if the user has access to this dashboard via multiple groups.
Please let me know how you go.

David

Hi Support,
If you look in DashBoard Management
Basically every user is already subscribed to every DashBoard
From various previous attempts to get the order right
Not sure how to get the order right now
Thanks - Grant

Hi David,
When Groups have been added and deleted
And all users have been logging in for a couple of weeks
And they all had access to all the DashBoards
Now / At this moment in time
I don't think your theory works
Eg Does not work for me
I can see the writing on the wall again
Log in as each user one at a time
And lot's of move lefts one at a time
Any other ideas ?
Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,
It sounds like the user already had access to these dashboards, though then you wanted to sort the dashboard order.
You then added the dashboard tabs to a group, and assigned the user to that group.
Is that correct?
If so the order of the dashboards cannot be guaranteed because effectively the user can access the tab by 2 methods (group, no group).
In order to get the dashboard order from the group, the user can login to Yellowfin and then choose to 'remove' the dashboard tabs, 1 by 1 unless all have been removed.
If they then logout and back in, the dashboard TABS added to the group should be re-distributed.
Please let me know how it goes.

Hi David,
Logged in as the user and deleted every DashBoard for that user
(As you suggested)
Setup the required DashBoard Sequence in the group
Logged back in
And the DashBoards displayed in the required sequence
Which is good and thanks
After this point, maintaining / adding re-ordering is not really possible
Add a DashBoard to the Group
And the user does not see this new DashBoard
So delete all the Dashoards for all the users again
Add 1 New DashBoard to the group
And away we go again
Not perfect
But much better than an hour or two of move left's
Much Much Better In Fact
Thanks for your help on this one
Thanks - Grant
