How to implement Shared Authentication?

We would like to implement shared authentication as mentioned in the Integration Guide
http://www.yellowfinbi.com/Document.i4?DocumentId=97216
However the guide did not specify any details on how to implement this.

It looks like we can only choose from Yellowfin Auth or LDAP integration.

Hello Julie,

Thank you for posting your question on the forum.

I've provided some additional info via our our Wiki link and

LDAP Authentication Guide

If you have specific questions after looking over this
material please let us know.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the response but these documents are not exactly what I was looking for.

Let me rephrase my question. We would like to utilize authentication against a separate database (e.g. MySQL), not LDAP. Is that possible?

Thanks again!

Julie
Hello Julie,

Thank you for getting back to us and
for providing the clarification that I think
we need.

I'll need to look into this a bit further.

Once I've obtained additional information
for you I will respond accordingly.

Thank you,

Kyle

Hi Julie,

could you please have a look at this other forum post and see if it answers your question, I think it might.

regards,
Dave
Thank you, Dave.
I see that we can import users. But ideally we would like to authenticate against an external database.

Hi Juile,

Yellowfin can authenticate against an LDAP server but not an external database. So I guess you would have to somehow integrate your MySQL use database with LDAP (and then Yellowfin can work with the LDAP server). I haven't tried this myself, however a quick internet search seemed to reveal a few different solutions that would achieve this.

Dave
