Is it possible to export a report including their DRILL THROUGHS and Co-Displays?

Hi All,

I just want to ask if it's possible to export a report or even a dashboard including their DRILL THROUGHS and Co-Displays?

For Example in the Profitability Dashboard in Yellowfin, the REGION BY YEAR REVENUE Report has a drill through but when I exported the REGION BY YEAR REVENUE report it only exported that report without the Drill Through which is the Region Performance Detail with a co-display of Camp Demographic Comparison report.

Thanks,
Albert
Hi Albert,

When exporting any item from Yellowfin, a list of dependent data sources/maps/views/report categories/reports should also be shown.

E.g.

You can then add the additional items.

Please let me know if this is not what you see.

Hi David,

I think what Albert meant was exporting the parent report into different file types which is pdf, word, excel, etc. Once I export this file into excel the drill through reports associated with this report will be included in the export.

We tried to export one drill down report, and only the first level of hierarchy was exported.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex/Albert,

Unfortunately drill-down/drill-through (interactive charts) do not keep their functionality when exported to PDF, XLS etc..

This has been added as an enhancement request (TASKID = 108859).

Hi David,

Has this task id been addressed? Even our clients are asking for the entire hierarchy to be shown in exported file such as .xls when using drill down reports.

If the data exported is only limited to the content displayed, then context will be lost. Example, if we drill from year to quarter and export the data, exported data will show up Quarter-1, Quarter-2 etc. but the context of the year from which the drill was enabled is lost in the export without users having a clue of which Quarter the data pertains to.

Appreciate an update.

Hi Kishore,

Unfortunately this functionality is still not possible, and at this point in time is not planned.
In all honesty I don't think we are going to be able to ever support this feature.

However, you can easily get around your current predicament by concatenating the quarter along with year, eg . Quarter 2 - 2016. I understand it won't look as neat, though it will be the only way to really understand what quarter you are looking at, when only looking at that snippet of data (and you cannot drill up).

Sorry for the bad news on this.

Hi David,

Thanks for reverting. Given this limitation within the tool and no plans to address it by DEV team in the near future, I was thinking of another workaround other than the concatenate option.

At a YF view level, along with the drill hierarchy fields (say Year->Quarter->Month->Date), same set of fields (Year, Quarter, Month, Date) can also be additionally added to the same Field Category without setting drills. This way when the report is being developed, along with the drill columns, remaining non-drill columns can also be selected so that output on the display and that in the export will both have the entire lineage though output might end up with one duplicate column which probably one has to live with.

Cheers,
Kishore
Hi Kishore,

Yeah, this comes back to having the column return the year, quarter, month, data displayed on a single row. However keeping in mind, yes you will have many rows.
But what you can think about is have 1 report with drill down, and then a related report which is not linked by any filter, just returns ALL data.
So the 2nd report is used to export and the 1st report is just used to help get an idea of the data.

It's not perfect and you might find a better use-case that makes more sense with how you consume your reports.

Sorry for the troubles this has caused.

David
