Yellowfin isn't limited to standard list reports, it is capable of generating banded reports using BIRT and Jasper report definitions. These reports allow text, graphics and charts to be inserted into the report. Banded reports are used for generating letters, payslips, lists and other reports with absolute pixel positioning.

BIRT is an open source reporting standard, originally developed by Actuate. Using BIRT within the browser-based Yellowfin interface allows for the standard Yellowfin security, broadcasting and report drill through to also apply to these reports.
