Microscope: Yellowfin “making waves” in the Business Intelligence market

Yellowfin is “making waves” in the UK Business Intelligence (BI) market, according to UK channel-focused publication, Microscope.

Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, is currently on a whirlwind tour of the UK – including an over-booked reseller recruitment event (Making BI Partnerships Easy) at London’s Emirates Stadium (home of Arsenal FC). The editor of Microscope, Simon Quicke, interviewed Rabie about Yellowfin’s UK expansion plans and vision for the BI channel market.

In a wide-ranging interview, Quicke and Rabie described the “significant change” dominating the UK’s BI channel ecosystem, attributing it to the emergence of new technology, new vendors and new vendor-channel-customer business models.

Rabie outlined several drivers pushing the rapid transformation – including increased usability of technology and analytics use cases – that have stimulated fresh demand for BI from “many more people across different departments”.

However, Rabie is not a fan of the ‘self-service’ response to heightened business-user demand – delivered by some technology firms, likening self-service BI to supermarket self-service checkouts and arguing that such approaches don’t actually deliver end-users the best outcomes.
