Data grouping generated odd SQL statement

I created a virtual table with a column for Contract_Expiry_days'. In the report builder, I selected the field and choose the option
'Group Data'. It failed to generate the results. I checked the generated SQL statement and notice a line inserted by YF. I highlighted the text in yellow. Any idea why?

The error was because some of the rows in the computed column were empty. We resolved this issue by excluding those rows
