Yellowfin’s Mobile BI application named in SMART 50 and voted 21st

Global Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, Yellowfin, has had its Mobile BI application for iPhone and iPad named amongst Australia’s 50 most innovative products by an independent panel of maven judges and ranked 21st by a people’s choice vote.

Last week, Yellowfin’s Mobile BI application for the iPhone and iPad was announced as one of Australia’s 100 most innovative products in Anthill Magazine’s annual ‘SMART 100’ Index.

The SMART 100, one of largest awards of its kind in Australia, is a list of Australia’s 100 most pioneering business technologies and potentially disruptive commercial innovations.

Fifty ‘maven’ judges then evaluated SMART 100 submissions. Each maven judge reviewed 20 profile pages and ranked each according to a predefined set of criteria. Each submission was evaluated 20 or more times. A maven is a trusted expert in a particular field.

Maven winners were announced 29 May, where Yellowfin’s Mobile BI application finished in the top 50.

Anthill readers then voted to decide the Peoples’ Choice Index for 2012, where Yellowfin finished 21st. The People’s Choice Index, announced yesterday, provided an opportunity for Anthill readers to vote on SMART 100 applications.

“Yellowfin’s Mobile BI application is unique and user-oriented, so it’s not surprising that it stood out to both judges and potential users,” said Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie. “The fact that we were able to pull focus away from other highly innovative entries tells us that we’re succeeding in transforming traditional ideas about BI by delivering a fun, engaging and intuitive product.”

Yellowfin for the iPad was released in November 2011. Yellowfin for the iPhone was released in April 2012.

The SMART 100 Index was developed by Anthill Magazine in 2008 to identify and rank Australia’s 100 most innovative products.
