Yellowfin to hold Governed Data Discovery best practice Webinar series

Global Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics software vendor, Yellowfin, will host a series of Governed Data Discovery Best Practices Webinars throughout Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th February 2015.

Global enterprise technology research, advisory and analyst firm, Gartner, highlighted the importance of coupling the concept of governance with Data Discovery capabilities in a recent media announcement, stating that: “Through 2016, less than 10 percent of self-service BI initiatives will be governed sufficiently to prevent inconsistencies that adversely affect the business.”

Yellowfin Director of Product Marketing, John Ryan, said that delivering best practice Governed Data Discovery enabled organizations to give BI end-users the freedom to explore organizational data and uncover fresh insight, while empowering IT to effectively manage the overall BI environment.

“The rise of Data Discovery tools has given analysts new freedom to explore and discover insights in their data without heavy IT involvement,” said Ryan. “It’s about finding the right balance, giving end-users the freedom they want, and IT the control they need.”

Gartner Research Vice President, Rita Sallam, also emphasized the potential that new approaches to Data Discovery offered organizations, expanding “access to sophisticated interactive analysis and insights to business consumers and non-traditional BI users — the approximately 70 percent of users in organizations that currently do not use BI tools or have statistical backgrounds.”

Independent BI Analyst and President of WiseAnalytics, Lyndsay Wise, highlighted the growing demand for Governed Data Discovery in particular in a recent blog post, stating that: “The role of Governed Data Discovery is becoming increasingly important as organizations manage more complex and diverse data that they want to gain insights from.”
