Yellowfin CEO on computerweekly.com: “Why data is more valuable when it’s shared”

“When data is shared – and therefore complemented with a range of appropriate human insights and other contextual information – it is easier to take smarter collective action that delivers better business outcomes.”

This comment was recently made by Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, in a guest post on computerweekly.com’s Data Matters column.

Glen’s article, Why data is more valuable when it’s shared, discussed the important role collaboration plays in the decision-making process, and how the Business Intelligence (BI) industry as a whole has done a “poor job” of facilitating this need.

To address the need for Collaborative BI capabilities, Glen said the industry needed to “acknowledge that human decision-making today is, on the whole, taking place outside the BI platform” before it could enable collaboration and collective decision-making “within the BI platform itself”.
