Can I edit the view sql, can I create view from excel?

Hi,

I have tried to develop the report via the evaluation version and I have some questions that need your advice.

-Are there any other ways to edit SQL command from below screen in the process of view creation?

-If I would like to create view by using excel as a data source, Is it possible for me to do so?

-If I would like to change the field format from numeric to string or text, can I do that? (I�ve just only see the options that not related to text or string).

Hi Narumon,

If you would like to create a report by adding/editing SQL code then you should use either the Freehand SQL method of View creation or a Virtual Table rather than the Drag and Drop method.

Regarding Excel, yes you can create views using Excel as a data source, Yellowfin version 6.1 has many fine new features to do with this. There are two different to do this as explained in this wiki page.

You can change the way a field is interpreted by setting its meta-data definition, for example, you can set an integer to be a dimension (text) rather than a metric.
