Dynamically printing text in report header

Hello! Is there any way to dynamically print text (such as report data) within the header of a report? Ideally I would like to print text underneath where the report title and report description currently are. I've noticed that you can optionally turn on the capability of printing the filter values underneath the header, but I'd like to print more user friendly text (the filter printing option is geared more towards filter logic than actually filter readability). The reason I would like this ability is because in exported reports our clients would like to know what location, office, etc. the report was run for.
Hi,

This is currently not possible.

It has been raised as an enhancement request [TASK ID = 105602] and will be raised at future enhancement meetings so that it can be considered for future builds.

Steven

What is the status on this? We would like the ability to print one of the filter values as a variable within the Report Title, so that when exported to PDF our client can easily tell for which region the report was exported.

EDIT: Please remove - Obviously, I inadvertently posted this as an answer.

I agree. This has come up as something that we will need also. Thanks.
why such a feature takes so long to implement?
Hi,

I can understand your frustration, though we do receive a large number of requests for all supported versions of Yellowfin. Defects are also raised, and each item being either a defect/enhancement is prioritized accordingly.

We have just released a major update (6.2) which included a large number of enhancements, though unfortunately the task 105602 was not included.

However you should be able to get around this by including the filter value on the output.
So the value will not be included in the report title, though just below.

A filter Region = Australia was applied to this report.

Is there a way to do this yet? I've not been able to find an answer to this anywhere on this blog.

Being able to put a Parameter value (passed from the report's drop down selector) into the title is something I'd like to do in many of our reports.

Anyone know how to do this?

I'm new to this blog so apologies if it's already in here somewhere...just point me to the answer.thanks.
Hi Richard,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is still not available.
Using the filter output is your best bet, as it will show the filter values applied to the report.

Is this the drop-down value you want to see on the output?

Also, you have checked the forum correctly ;).

Hope this helps!

David
Hi,

The first post in this thread mentions displaying the filter values below the header. Hos is that accomplished?

Hi Team,

I want to add my voice to this request. We currently produce reports for almost every bank in Australia and New Zealand (not using Yellowfin but are moving to it).

As a user changes filters in our current reports, the titles in the charts change allowing them to easily copy and paste charts into other documents without needing to manually create a title for the chart / report.

The lack of this feature will be viewed by our clients as a significant step backwards from functionality they currently receive from an alternate reporting platform.

A number of others have been asking for this for 2+ years.

If you could please let us know when / if this is scheduled for release it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Charles.

Hi Charles,

Unfortunately a report or report description cannot be dynamically changed.
Unless you're using translations, in which case the report title is translated to the users's language.

However, what you're after may be achievable using Charts & Series selection.
The report titles themselves will not change, but the chart tile will, so if the client is only seeing the chart, it should be feasible.

You can have a chart title change dynamically based on the metric selected using this option:

Then hide the report name.

Please let me know if this does not give you what you were after.
