How to Drill down in Scatter and Bubble charts
14 November, 2011
Hi,
I have a scatter and bubble chart where the colour is mapped against a drillable field (category).
In the data table I can drill from category -> sub category but this doesn't work on the chart as it normally would for bar/line/etc. charts.
Have I missed setting up something or can't the statistical charts drill down ?
thanks
Robin

Hi Robin,
You currently cannot drill down on scatter and bubble charts.
However an enhancement request exists for it [TASK ID = 108961], so this is something we would be looking at implementing in a future build.

Hi Guys,
Just an update to this task.
In Yellowfin 6.3, we have inclued a feature called'Chart Brushing' . This effectively lets you draw a box around the data on the chart, which you can then use as a filter. See the linked wiki for more information.
This feature can help link a Bubble/Scatter chart to another report, without needing the ability to drill-through or down.
The only thing to note with this is that only a metric can be passed to the linked reports, and the linked report MUST contain a filter that matches the metric.
Here is an example of how it could work;
Bubble/Scatter chart settings:
The report that I'm going to pass values to is based on the same metrics as above, but goes into a bit more detail ;
Now I create a dashboard and add both reports.
Then I click on the Analytic setup and link the reports as below:
Now after brushing on the bubble for age 29, I end up with the same scatter/bubble chart , showing only 29, but my child report also has the same filter applied.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
David
