Business Intelligence vendor Yellowfin impresses BBBT with collaborative approach to pervasive BI

Global Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics software vendor, Yellowfin, has impressed the Boulder BI Brain Trust (BBBT) with its collaborative approach to pervasive BI in a recent briefing. The BBBT is the largest industry analyst consortium of its kind, comprising many of the world’s leading BI analysts and thought leaders.

Yellowfin’s presentation titled Transforming how people consume analytics – and delivered by Yellowfin Director of Product Marketing, John Ryan – outlined how Yellowfin’s BI platform was designed to support BI consumers in order to facilitate pervasive deployments and high business user adoption.

“Where Yellowfin sees itself as different is that we’re fundamentally driven by that belief that data is more valuable when shared,” said Ryan during Yellowfin’s presentation. “We think data is like renewable energy – the more people that have access to data and analytical insights, the more value you can actually get from the data. What drives us as a company is trying to work out new collaborative ways of getting data into the hands of more people within an organization, enabling them to consume and act on that information.”

Yellowfin’s approach resonated with BBBT analysts throughout the live Twitter chat that occurred during the presentation.

“Yellowfin starts off by saying that data is more valuable when shared – so true,” tweeted BBBT Founder and Host, Claudia Imhoff.

“What’s different here is that Yellowfin actually focuses on making data shareable,” said independent analyst and agile BI coach, Lynn Winterboer.

“Yellowfin is getting the right data into the hands of the right people at the right time by focusing on collaboration,” said data expert and Principal at Boulder Marketing Technology, Brad Ewald.

BBBT analysts were also impressed with Yellowfin’s high levels of recorded business user adoption.

“Yellowfin reports 44:1 business users to each IT content author, compared to the industry average, reported by Gartner as 15:1,” tweeted Winterboer.

“Some pretty striking numbers in terms of adoption from Yellowfin,” said Ewald.

“Building a data-driven culture is the key to success in the 21st century and tools like Yellowfin are helping in that niche,” said Big Data thought leader and Principal Analyst at Rebaie Analytics Group, Ali Rebaie.
